April 2: Hämeen Linna 1
We walked over to Hämeen Linna itself, separated from town by a park. It and the other castles in Finland are some of the only buildings in the country remaining from medieval times.
There it is in the distance.
A more open view.
The way in was steep.
Heading in toward the core of the castle.
Back out to the outer area. Note the depth of the wall.
Another wall of the keep.
I could just look at these walls for hours.

The central courtyard.
One courtyard wall.
Another courtyard wall.
A third courtyard wall.
I always like how tiny the actual windows are compared to the outer edges of their frames. Also: bell.
This one is rather elegantly detailed.
There was once a vault in here, as you can see by the arches.
