Gallery: July 12 — Blatten Church

Late in the afternoon, back in Blatten, I went over to the church to take a look inside it for the first time.

But first: Postbuses! (This is a view from the balcony.)

The church is a really well-executed combination of modernism and a timeless sense of materials and light. The rose window is striking.

Here its glorious colors are revealed more fully.

Nicely detailed columns.

I like the flush meeting of the aisle's stones and the wood floor of the pews.

This is as much of the apse's upper reaches as I could get to see without stepping up into it.

A lovely lantern-like effect from the vestibule.

Outside, some well-weathered things nearby.
