April 23: Southern Finland tour – Chapel of the Holy Cross, Turku
We visited two chapels in the Turku Cemetery on the outskirts of town. The first was the Chapel of the Holy Cross, designed by Pekka Pitkänen and completed in 1967.

A private reception room for funeral parties.
7934
A strong diagonal.
7935
More solids & voids. (ed. 4/23/2020: and verdigris.)

A cross off in the distance across the field.
7944
On the way across the cemetery to the other chapel.
7946
A particularly Nordic way.

Like Skogskyrkogården, the Turku cemetery intermingles the forest and the graves.
