May 18: Utö – sun

Each day was just packed, since in four days eight of us had to build a dozen benches and the other four had to build a set of stairs inside an old weird chamber to make it into a more accessible gallery space.

The first day started out nice and sunny. The building in the canonical shot here, containing several mostly empty rooms, was pressed into service as our workshop. You can see the wood brought along on the ferry loaded on the truck next to it.

The first main activity of the day was to walk to all the potential bench sites to measure how long each bench should be. Here, the bunker built into the hill off the main street, which I dimly remember as housing a shower. Could that possibly be true?

A really neat couple of rocks; a bench would be installed here.
