May 12: Porvoo new town

Across the river (the Porvoonjoki) from the old town is a recent residential development, the design of which, by Tuomo Siitonen, is based on the typology of the old storehouses upriver. We went and checked it out.

A neat sort of paviliony restaurant along the riverbank, on the old town side (the east side).

A look upstream from the bridge. You can see the cathedral behind the masts over to the right.

Hyvin pieni koira sanoo "moi!" Niiiiiiiiiiiin söpö!!

A fun sort of cottage-robotic aesthetic. The mostly pedestrian circulation is great.

Various wooden things.

The Valiojäätelö penguin bursting out of the water is the Finnish, less urban-warfare version of the Kool-Aid Monster.
