May 28: Ardez
Luckily, I made it to Ardez with about 15 minutes to spare before the train departed, so I was even able to fit in a short walkabout through town.
7617
Just past the church...
7618
...and a hop, skip, and a jump...
7619
...to get to the station.
7622
A gang of bonsai'd trees under Steinsberg's gaze.
7633
A street of grand patterns.
7638
The sizable church, looking inviting. Sorry, Kirche. Maybe next time.
7639
Ardez seems to be THE place for intense sgraffito. This example is exhilarating!
7640
This one on the left looks familiar...
7642
...but of course, the Adam and Eve House!
7643
The A&E House's impressive compound oriel.
7644
A bench with a little bit of a lean, and next to it a — secret window???
7651
Ah yes and the infamous steep square.
7652
The square's pavement contains a great collection of curves.
7653
An elevational view of the square, just for good measure.
7654
A plainer but still very attractive street.
7660
OK, best not to push one's luck; time to head back down to the station.
7661
Two walls, two towers.
7662
A rather pillowy half-timbering.
7665
Back to the station via worksheds.
7671
Threading between to get to the train.
