June 1: miscellaneous
A new month and the start of a new studio.
An oblique look into the lightwell from just in front of the elevator by our apartment door.
Nighttime? Daytime! (Just way underexposed.) A sky-churchtower canyon just after leaving the apartment.
Tucked next to the Ramblas, separated by a layer of buildings, is the grand and bustling Plaça Reial, which was on the way to our studio.
The way up to the studio, a rather precipitous route.
Upon striking out for lunch, we found: the narrowest block.
And a sky zag.
It appears that someone tried to will a door into existence in this wall and only halfway succeeded.
Another street canyon, topped with a...tree?
The blown-out sky merges with the blown-out ensunned rounded face of the building at left, leaving its cornice floating.
Well look who it is again — Santa Maria del Mar! And a swallow on high.
In the square on the east side of Santa Maria, a curious conglomeration of sculpture and inlay.
The south face of Santa Maria in utter sun.
More of the mysterious sculpture, looming over passers-by as if designed to make them slightly anxious.
Back at our studio space, complete with glass floor section and fleet of ducts.
Gibbs over Plaça Reial in the late sun on the way home. Studio took place on a rather Mediterranean schedule, starting around 10, I think, and going till about 7PM.
More late sun further along on the Ramblas.
An almost axonometric night view down Bisbe Laguarda from the front balcony.
Eerie glows after dark out the back window.
