May 14: Nuuksio 1
Nuuksio National Park is a huge wilderness park within Espoo, established in 1994, surprisingly recently. James and Matt and I took a day trip there to get out into the woods for a bit.
1093
We took a train and a bus to get there. This was a bridge along the way on the train.
1094
A TV tower, it would seem.
1100
The station where we transferred, I forget exactly where. We had to sprint to catch the bus.
1106
A nice old shed in Nuuksio.
1108
Spring springing.
1117
The road leading further into the park.
1122
It was a lovely fresh morning, with an alpine feel to the air.
1130
At the info center, a collection of skulls. A skullection.
1132
The info center is of Blockbau construction, and that just added to the alpine sensation.
1137
Des pins majestiques.
1141
From a rocky outcropping with a great view, a mysterious field.
1142
Some more context.
1143
Looking closer to straight down from the outcropping.
1148
A craggy ol' guy by the rocks.
1149
New shoots.
1164
Further along in the woods, a rootfall. A rootballfall.
1170
A spectre.
1171
A rather allee-looking (w/r/t the spruces along the edge) powerline cut.
1174
Chiaroscuro.
1180
Nice mosses.
