July 27: walk to Santa Maria del Mar

Along the way I decided to pay one last visit to our project site, for old time's sake.

Oblique sun on the wall of the Palau Aguilar along Carrer Cremat Gran i Xic, a.k.a. Carrer del Bumpout.

4047

A typically Catalan ruffled-ball ornament caps the corner of the Museu addition. What? Oh.

4049

Waiiiiiit a minute... are they building our studio assignment??

4050

Well SOMETHING's sure different. The answer is: basically, yes, they did build it.

4052

4052.jpg

Strong high sun despite the latening afternoon. Note the concentrated colony of antennas at right.

4053

4053.jpg

Whoops. I wonder what this tree is. I love trees with big goofy leaves.

4055

4055.jpg

Pigeon sentries.

4056

4056.jpg

Some neat little pod-flower thingums. I'm quite curious what this tree is too.

4059

Utilities palimpsest as abstract art.

4062

4062.jpg

Heading back down Carrer Cremat Gran i Xic, in all its juttiness, toward Carrer de Montcada.

4066

4066.jpg

I believe this is a glimpse, or rather three glimpses at once, inside the Museu Picasso.

4068

4068.jpg

Another one of those deep, smooth arches. I wonder if the four holes forming a square formerly supported a sign.

4071

4071.jpg

Neat palm, bedraggled palm. This is the Placeta Montcada (Montcada Squarelet), which is literally just a widening of Carrer Montcada from a super-narrow street to a quite narrow street.

4072

Where was my next stop? Y'all already know it be Santa Maria del Mar!

4073

The Passeig del Born is a pleasant small rambla extending north from Santa Maria del Mar to the Mercat del Born, just barely visible here.
