April 4: Stadshuset evening
In the evening I went to check out Stadshuset and Riddarholmskyrkan, because they were both buildings I had admired in photos before ever visiting Stockholm.
4655
Sergelstorg by night.
4661
Still some twilight.
4667
It's nice of them to light up the underpasses so well.
4673
This one's even better.
4675
Stadshuset now fully in view. Also: Orion.
4679
Stadhuset + moon.
4682
Stadhuset, looming, + moon.
4684
I walked along the north side, and this remarkable view across to Södermalm, through the courtyard and the arcade on the other side, was one of the first indications that this was soon to become one of my all-time favorite buildings.
4690
The tower from inside the courtyard.
4700
Another tower, at the southeast corner, injected at an odd angle.
4701
Through the arcade.
4704
Statue beyond.
4722
Moon + Södermalm, just.
4726
The south face of Stadshuset.
4730
Then also the tower. I still wonder about those tiny illuminated niches in the tower wall.
4736
I'm not sure who this is. — Edit 4/5/2020: it's Birger Jarl.
4749
The moon caught in the spire.
4752
The east face, from the bridge to Riddarholmen.
4753
A train rushing on by.
4755
Distance growing.
